Josh and I set out for the second stop on our Bourbon Trail tour. This time we headed to Heaven Hill in Bardstown. Before making it to the distillery, though, we explored a bit of the downtown. After looking around in some shops, we had lunch at The Old Talbot Tavern. (I definitely recommend it.) Personally, I was on the quest to find a good drugstore milkshake, because sometimes you just need a good drugstore milkshake. Luckily we were able to find one at a cute little diner. Once we finally made it to the distillery, I was able to learn about more history than just that of bourbon. Our tour guide asked where we were from, and when I told him Lebanon, he immediately asked my last name. It turns out that he used to play checkers with my great grandfather when he was just a child. It was so interesting to hear him talk about how my great grandfather used to deliver the mail and was just all around a good guy.
Our two stops on the Bourbon Trail have both been great! You get to see and hear about different things on each of the tours. We look forward to seeing what the rest of the stops have in store.
